Fifth Court of Appeals

Place 2
Justice Jessica Lewis is honored to serve on the Fifth Court of Appeals for the State of Texas, having been elected to the position on November 5, 2024.
Justice Lewis grew up in East Texas and earned her undergraduate degree at East Texas Baptist University. She has been a resident of the Greater Dallas area for nearly two decades. During that time, she graduated from SMU’s Dedman School of Law, where she served on Law Review and as president of SMU’s chapter of Christian Legal Society and held other leadership and service roles.
She spent the initial years of her career at the Dallas office of a Texas-based international law firm, where she worked on complex restructuring, insolvency, and litigation matters, while also giving her time in numerous legal and non-legal volunteer capacities. Then, after years of volunteering for the organization, she took a full-time role with a Dallas-based non-profit representing residents of high-crime neighborhoods in civil litigation and probate-related matters to help them make their communities safer. During the eight years prior to joining the bench, she practiced at a bankruptcy and restructuring boutique firm in downtown Dallas.
Justice Lewis is a wife and mom, and she and her family are involved in their local church, school, and community.
